PDS, a sponsor of the NCWIT (National Center for Women in Information Technology) Milwaukee, is proud to have participated in the 2019 Aspirations in Computing Awards. PDS has an active seat on their advisory council for 4 years and is committed to the ongoing success of the program. This aligns with our community focused efforts to support youth and/or disadvantaged.
It was great to see so many wonderfully talented young women receiving recognition for their efforts and superb skills. What stood out was the amazing accomplishments these young women have already had and will have in the world of technology.
The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) honors women in grades 9 through 12 who are active and interested in computing and technology, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award for AiC recipients are chosen for their demonstrated interest and achievements in computing, proven leadership ability, academic performance, and plans for post‑secondary education. To date, more than 12,000 women have been honored with the Award for AiC.
The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) is a non-profit community of more than 1100 universities, companies, non-profits, and government organizations nationwide working to increase women’s participation in computing and technology. NCWIT equips change leaders with resources for taking action in recruiting, retaining, and advancing women from K–12 and higher education through industry and entrepreneurial careers. NCWIT believes that inspiring more women to choose careers in IT isn’t about parity; it’s a compelling issue of innovation, competitiveness, and workforce sustainability. In a global economy, gender diversity in IT means a larger and more competitive workforce, in a world dependent on innovation, it means the ability to design technology that is as broad and creative as the people it serves.
PDS sponsors NCWIT and other as a part of our commitment to serving our community. Read more about our other partnerships here.
